When it comes to my lips, it takes a whole lot for me to make a purchase. Like, a whole lot.
I've never been someone who likes to wear lipstick, which is strange considering I couldn't get enough of it when I was little. I will never forget my mom teaching me her tricks for putting it on when I was in second grade. I felt like such a grown up. But when I actually grew up, I never got into it. I was that girl who wore the minty lip gloss from Bath & Body Works when I was feeling 'fancy'. (Yup, that was my version of fancy.)
I am slightly embarrassed to admit that Kylie Jenner actually influenced me into searching for the perfect natural lipstick. (I can't help it. I'm obsessed with the Jenner/Kardashian clan!) I loved the natural lip color she's used in the past, so I went on the hunt for a good dupe.
The lipstick stars aligned back in October and I scored when I found this perfect trio at Ulta. They were have a buy 2 get 1 free deal on NYX Cosmetics, so I of course jumped on it. My bank account was thankful for my thoughtfulness.
One item I knew I absolutely needed in my makeup bag was a lip pencil. Their slip lip pencil in natural is matches my lip color exactly. If you look in the first pictures of me putting it on, you can barely even tell I'm wearing any (which I love). I use to be against lip pencils, but I've noticed that any lip product I put on with it looks ten times better. It gives your lips clean lines and keeps lipstick/lip gloss from creeping out of bounds, so to speak. Plus, I use it all the time so I'm not going to feel bad when I have to pick another up soon. It's only $3.49!
I truly am surprised about how much I love their matte lipstick and soft lip cream. I decided to go a little more nude with the lip cream because I wanted something I could wear on a daily basis. Stockholm is the perfect fit for the bill. It makes me feel put together without making me look like I'm wearing makeup. (I am all about that, friends.) My only complaint with the lip cream is that I have to reapply at least once or twice throughout the day. I'm not really about that life.
For the lipstick, I wanted something that was one shade darker than my natural lip color so I picked up Whipped Caviar. I didn't think I was going to love it as much as I do, but it lasts all day. Really. It lasts through my two cups of coffee, eight cups of water, and me snacking all day long (such a bad habit). I'm really impressed. I also love the color because it dresses my makeup up a little more while also looking natural.
So, what's my verdict? Go out and keep these on hand in your makeup arsenal. Your bank won't hate you either when you buy 2 to 3 of each to keep in multiple bags. These are going to be my go-to shades for a very long time.
