That is the
I use both platforms - Blogger for Suzy Speaks and WordPress for my job's company blog. From a person who quickly understands new technology and needs power behind posts, I love Wordpress. However, as someone who understands the struggles of using software and has a tight budget, I love Blogger.
Friends, I wouldn't steer you wrong. Blogger truly is the best platform for beginning bloggers. Why?
1. It's free.
All you need is a Gmail account. You don't have find a website host or purchase a domain - though I always suggest doing the latter. This is the main reason I've stayed loyal to Blogger. While I love the power behind WordPress, I just can't justify the costs of paying for a website host every year. They tend to run about $100 to $200/year. Personally, I think if you're new to blogging and want to see if blogging is something you want to do on a regular basis or full-time, Blogger is the most risk-free way to test blogging out.
2. It's intuitive.
What do I mean? The back-end (aka: the site bloggers see when they type out their blogs) of Blogger is very clean and clear. You can play around with it for five minutes and gain a basic understanding of what everything does and how to begin blogging.
WordPress on the other hand isn't as intuitive if you're not tech-savvy. For example, if you want to change the layout of your blog on Blogger, it's pretty simple. Go to Layout and there is a visual composer that allows you to drag and drop different widgets where you wish. On WordPress, you have to do a little more digging and have some knowledge of HTML, CSS, and PHP. (If those acronyms freak you out, just stay away from WordPress.) That's the easiest example I can give you. It's also a billion times easier to start a Blogger blog. You literally login to Blogger with you're Gmail and boom! You're done. WordPress on the other hand... well, that's another blog post for another day.
For all you WordPress lovers out there, I feel you. I love it just as much as you do. It's perfect for businesses and high-powered users. Eventually, I would love to have Suzy Speaks on Wordpress.
BUT - for beginning bloggers, you're best bet, hands-down is Blogger.
