comparison is the thief of joy theodore roosevelt

Tomorrow is the first official day of fall and Texas is not going to comply as usual. The high is in the 90s for the entire week. Womp, womp. But, I'm not going to let that keep me or my closet down. I decided to force Texas into the season and pulled all of my fall clothes to the front of my closet last week. Hopefully, the power of positive thinking will make the weather change. (Extreme emphasis on the hopefully.)

While going through closet reorganization, I couldn't help but notice the voice in my head kept complaining about how I just have nothing to wear, all my stuff is so out of date, and why can't the clothes I pin on Pinterest magically show up in my closet. (I mean, really - why isn't that a thing yet? Catch up to my needs, technology.)

Nowadays, it's hard not to compare yourself to others, especially as a blogger. You flip through the pages of other blogs or scroll through many Instagram posts, and can't help but think, "Why isn't this my life?" or "Wish I had XYZ." It takes less than five minutes to feel bad about yourself or your life or your closet or your job or your whatever.

Some friends and I were talking the other day about how it's so easy to get caught up in the social media envy. No one posts the most terrible moments of their lives or if they do, everyone thinks "Slow down, crazy. Slow down." We tend to forget that no one has the perfect life. You're probably sitting there wanting some girl's shoes and on the flip side, she's sitting there wanting your top.

So this week, I'm going to turn this negative energy into positive vibes. I am really good at complaining and not coming up with a solution, so that is my goal this week and I challenge you to do the same. A good formula for this (nerd alert) would be "I don't have Z, but if I do X + Y that will get me Z." Sure, I'm not happy with my wardrobe at the moment, but I do have a great job so if I work and save money, I can give my closet an update.

Enough about me. What are you struggling with this week?
