I love dreams. They make you smile and excited for the future. I'm dumb-founded when someone tells me their goal in life, but they don't have a plan to reach it. The conversation typically ends with "some day..." Why do we limit ourselves? I do it, too. Last week, I  decided that I needed to make a change if I was serious about my future. That's why I wasn't able to blog very much because I've been making some life-changing decisions to be able to accomplish goals and dreams of mine. (More on that tomorrow.)

This week, I encourage you to challenge yourself. Turn your some day into today and start seriously pursuing your dream. I mean, it's worth at least five minutes of your time. You never know, obtaining your dream might be easier than you thought.

Happy Monday!

I know I talk about happiness all the time, but it's the most important feeling. It drives you and determines what path you'll go down. This statement couldn't be anymore true for me. I wish I had seen it at the beginning of this weekend because I really wasted life by being unhappy the whole time. (I'll talk more about that tomorrow.)

This week, I want you all to remember this quote. Smile. Today starts a new week and a new chance to be happy.

Happy Monday!

It's Friday, Friday.

Friday, October 4, 2013

I love Fridays. It's the best day of the week (duh). I think the one thing I love most about Fridays is that everyone wants to get together and hang out. It doesn't matter if we're hitting the bar scene or sitting on our back porch. We just want to be together and talk about things we've heard or learned over the past week. Here are some things from around the web you need to know.

I seriously am in love with everything on R29's Top 15 Fall Trends list. If only my short legs could pull off thigh-high boots... One day? #verticallychallenged

The CHICago Life Blog's interview with Simon Doonan is seriously amazing. I just love his point of view on fashion. It really made me rethink some of my views.

The Glossy Life's post on how to cozy up your home from fall is super helpful, especially if you're not looking to spend money on a ton of new home decor. It came at the perfect moment for me because I've been bitten by the decorating bug.

It came to my attention this week that not very many people have heard of Sassy Gay Friend and that seriously made me so sad. You have to watch his video about Romeo & Juliet. Just do it. You'll thank me later.

Happy weekend, y'all!

Ultimate Chorizo & Beef Burgers

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Ross and I have a serious problem... we're addicted to chorizo. What is this magical meat, you ask? Basically, it's a Spanish pork sausage, but that's not nearly as fun to say. If you remember my post about Ross' proposal, you'll know that chorizo made an appearance that day in a big way. We're all about that chorizo life.

Anyway, there's a local restaurant bar we go to called Proudest Monkey and they serve this burger called El Jefe. Ross gets it every single time we go and it's definitely the boss. It's a chorizo and beef burger topped with a fried egg. So pretty much deliciousness on a bun. Well, this past weekend we were craving that chorizo burger but didn't want to venture out because it was pouring down rain. Plus, the Aggies were away in the faraway land of Arkansas, so the bar would have been packed. Luckily for us, we had all the ingredients we needed for this baby and decided to try our hand at it. (And when I say our hand, you know I mean Ross' hand. He's the burger guy. I'm the taste tester.)

Want // Need // Wear // Read

I am so happy that it's fall, y'all. It really is my favorite time of year. The weather typically sits in the seventies here in Texas, which is a really nice break from melting in the sun all summer long. Don't get me wrong. I l-o-v-e summer. Once winter hits here in College Station, I'm begging for it to come. But nothing beats the fall weather and the fall mood. Fall brings soups and pies and boots and sweaters. Cooler weather means more indoor cuddling time with a cozy blanket and good book. Here are some things that are going to make this October a little better.

Want: Leather Jacket - After reading Alyssa's post about her leather jacket and finds, it really made me want to find my own. I really love BCBG's jacket at Nordstrom for $128. A leather jacket is a great investment for your wardrobe. It just adds a little something-something to your outfit or as Alyssa put it, some sass. I'm all about being sassy, y'all.

Need: Rain Boots - This is a serious need. Every single time it rains in College Station, I'm reminded that I need a good pair of rain boots. I've bought two pairs from Target, but after wearing them for one rainy season, they always break at the bottom and I get water in my boots. That's no bueno. Hunter boots are a great investment for any girl in rainy areas. I especially love them in black because they can go with anything. Hunter also has a boot line with rag + bone and they are absolutely adorable.

Wear: Long Sweater - I was able to wear my first sweater of the season today and it made me happy happy happy. This sweater from H&M is super adorable and only seven bucks! I'm getting it. I mean, how can I resist?

Read: Everything Voluntary - With the government shutdown and people shouting politics from the rooftops (more like Facebook/Twitter statuses), it made me interested in learning about Voluntaryism. Ross read this book a while back and recommended it to me. The title pretty much explains it all. Voluntaryists believe that everything we do should be voluntary, not mandatory or compulsory. So far, it's pretty interesting and I recommend you checking it out. It just gives another viewpoint on the world. You can read it online for free, which is really nice and convenient.
