I actually have this quote hanging up in my bathroom so I can look at it everyday. So often I find myself saying, "I wish I could do [fill in the blank]." It's nice to have a daily reminder because the more I talk about doing something, the more anxiety I have about not doing it yet. Do you know what I mean?

What keeps us from doing the things we want or accomplishing goals? Look in the mirror and you'll see. We are the only thing standing in the way. This week, I challenge you to start one thing on your life to-do list this week. Anything. For example, I realized that this weekend I kept saying, "I wish I could write pretty." I know that isn't a huge and life changing accomplishment, but it is something that I've always wanted to do. (Seriously, my handwriting looks like the writing above...aka: elementary cursive. It's pretty bad.)

What are some things you've been wanting to accomplish lately? It may be easy or it may be hard, but in the end you will feel better once you start.

Happy Monday!

Leonardo has been coming up in my classes a lot lately, which is weird since I'm not majoring in art. (Yeah, we're on first name basis.) Anyway, I finally understand the origin of Renaissance man. I know, I'm a little slow on putting two and two together. We learned about the different hobbies that Leonardo had and I'm not going to lie, I was a little jealous. I left class feeling like an underachiever.

What's stopping us from becoming accomplished and great at something? For me, I use to think that if something is meant to happen that it will happen. I didn't feel like I had to put out any extra effort. How wrong is that? Leonardo is right. Things don't just happen to people. You have to go out and make things happen. So, I know you may have the case of the Mondays, but don't sit back and let life pass you by. Go out and give your day that extra oomph to get you closer to your goals.

Happy Monday!

Tips & Tricks: Restore Damaged Hair

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

I have a confession to make. Before I joined my sorority, I never used hair EVER. I didn't even like using hairspray. I only used it in high school because I had to for dance team and cheerleading. Other than that, nothing touched my hair, except for a blow dryer and a straightener.

You can imagine how damaged my hair became over time. When I joined my sorority, I met a ton of girls with spectacular hair. I mean, I was blown away. I couldn't figure out how their hair was so shiny and never looked frizzy or damaged on the ends. Finally, I began asking around and they slowly introduced me to hair products. However, I could never find something that achieved the result that I was craving. I wanted a product that not only made my hair look shiny and less frizzy, but helped and protected my damaged hair.

Okay, my story is getting too long, but I'm a Texas girl and we have to tell the backstory to the backstory to the original story at hand in order for you to understand the whole story. :)

SO, long story short - one of my sister's introduced me to my new favorite hair salon in College Station, which introduced me to my new favorite hairstylist, who introduced me to my new favorite product: It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner

Honestly, it's the best hair product I have ever used. I have been using it for about a month now and couldn't be happier with the result. It accomplishes everything I want for my hair. It protects and repairs damaged ends. This is the longest I've ever gone without split ends. It's amazing. Also, my hair feels like I get it done at the salon everyday. It's smooth and shiny. I am absolutely in love with this product. I am seriously considering trying their other products as well!

I had my stylist order it for me and I picked it up at the salon, however you can order it online or find it at Ulta in the store. I have the 2 oz bottle and use it every time I shower. I've hardly made a dent in it, so I think it's a great size to try a new product.

Spray the product on the ends of your hair after towel drying your hair. You only need to spray about 2 to 3 times, depending on the thickness of your hair. I like to gather my hair all to one side and spray.

Then, use a wide tooth comb and comb your hair. This evens out the product throughout your hair. If your scalp is typically oily like mine, I recommend only combing it from the midpoint of your hair and down.

After that, it's best to let your hair air dry. However, it's okay to blow dry your hair if you're in a hurry. That's typically what I do when I shower in the morning.

My hairstylist also gave me other tips to help with my dry and damaged ends.
  • Wash your hair only 3 to 4 times a week. (Basically, wash it every other day.)
  • Wash your hair at night and let it air dry, so that you don't have to use your blow dryer.
  • Wear your hair down when you go to bed. Keeping it in a ponytail damages and breaks the hair.

I have to say that this is the first time I have ever been satisfied with my hair. I secretly love that it's been windy lately because I have the perfect blowing in the wind hair. Go ahead and laugh, but you'll be doing it too once you try It's a 10. :)

Spring is here! Well, it's been here in Texas for a while, but the groundhog didn't see its shadow! Or it did see its shadow? I never really understood all of that, but no matter.

I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty excited. I like winter for one month, then I'm done. Texas weather is perfect for me. We are so blessed to have this beautiful weather. Even though it is raining today in College Station, I prefer this weather over freezing cold winds. Wherever you are and whatever the weather, take a break from studying, working, sleeping or whatever and go outside. Breathe. Take it all in. Don't forget to smile after all of that because - you know what? Life is pretty amazing.

Happy Monday!
